5 Things You Should Keep Handy For Home Defense

Criminals are becoming more daring and violent by the day. Every year, thirteen million people—or about 5% of the population—in the United States become victims of crime. And the Federal Bureau of Investigation estimates that 1.5 million people are victims of violent crime.

This increase in crime rates, combined with an increase in home invasions, has people wondering, “How should I defend my home?” Whether you believe it will happen to you or not, most people will agree that it is preferable to be prepared and not have to use it than to be caught off guard. If the time comes when you need to defend yourself or your loved ones, what are the tools you need?

Here is a list of self-defence weapons you should always keep handy for protection.

1. Firearm

A self-defence weapon like federal 556 ammo u2013 1000 rounds

are the most valuable tools. Every year, armed citizens kill or injure far more criminals than police, demonstrating that owning a gun is possibly the most effective way to protect oneself from crime. The United States Supreme Court has ruled that the Second Amendment guarantees people the right to own and use firearms for self-defence.

The “best home defence gun” is the firearm you and your family can shoot and manoeuvre easily inside the home. If you’re starting from scratch, consider which type of firearm you want to use for home defence: a shotgun, a handgun, or a pistol-caliber carbine, all of which are excellent options. These tools should be small, easy to carry, non-lethal, cheap, and, most importantly, powerful.

However, while guns are lethal weapons capable of stopping criminals, they have significant drawbacks. Not only could you face serious charges, but most states prohibit carrying a gun without a permit if one is available. Most of the time, having a loaded weapon violates numerous laws.

2. Baseball Bat

A baseball bat appears to have a legal purpose in recreational sports. However, because of its ability to inflict severe and potentially fatal injuries on others, it can also be used as a weapon.

Baseball bats can be lethal. Also, they can be cheaper than most other tools, like a firearm. And as long as you have a ball and glove with the bat, it’s legal to carry on you.

3. Taser

Tasers, like stun guns, shock, immobilize, and cause pain, but they’re designed to help you repel someone from a safe distance, typically 10 to 15 feet away. They fire two probes that remain connected to your Taser via cords. Because the probes shoot apart, they pass a higher electrical range throughout the assailant’s body, making it easier to immobilize an attacker with a Taser than with a standard stun gun.

Tasers are an excellent way to subdue an attacker in a non-lethal manner while still being powerful enough to incapacitate an attacker. There are numerous situations in which using a lethal weapon can result in severe consequences, including legal trouble and the risk of accidentally striking an innocent bystander.

Normal civilian Tasers deliver a shock for about 30 seconds, giving the user enough time to immobilize an attacker, drop the Taser, and flee to safety

4. Stun Gun

A stun gun is a battery-powered or electrically charged hand-held device that delivers a powerful electric shock to stop an attacker. There are no guns in the traditional sense because they do not fire bullets but rather an electricity into an attacker. At the end of a stun gun, there are two prongs. When you touch an attacker with the prongs while pulling the trigger, a robust electrical current flows from the prongs through the attacker’s clothes and into his body.

You can immediately immobilize an attacker by pressing the stun gun’s prongs against them because doing so results in excruciating pain and total loss of muscle control. The attacker will only be immobile for 5 to 60 minutes, depending on how long they were stunned, due to the low amperage at which these devices function. Police forces, security services, and individuals seeking adequate non-lethal attack protection utilize stun guns. They have proven to be a very effective defensive tool.

5. Pepper Spray

The most often used non-lethal self-defence item worldwide is likely pepper spray. By giving an attacker one swift, stinging spray to the face, you can dissuade them from attacking you long enough for you to flee, thanks to this non-lethal, cheap, and compact tool.

Even if the invader has a gun, this simple yet effective device has a range of about 3 meters. Due to its legally protected non-lethal weapon that assures you to use force in self-defence, it is one of the best personal safety equipment. Additionally, it is a low-cost method of self-defence at home that can deliver 25 blasts.

It does not require years of training to use pepper spray efficiently and is effortless. Additionally, it is readily accessible for purchase.

While pepper spray is an excellent weapon for self-defence indoors, using it in public has several disadvantages. If you’re outside, the wind could blow mist into your eyes and skin. Therefore, it is preferable to use pepper spray indoors rather than outside.

In Conclusion

Everyone has the right to self-defence, and there are many situations in which you may find yourself in need of extra security. With the tools on this list, you will feel safer knowing you have something handy to defend yourself in case of an attack.
